WHITEFOLKS (E.C. ILLA) — WICKED ENTERTAINMENT'S UNDERGROUND PIONEER

CHI-RAP.com | Chicago & Northwest Indiana Hip-Hop History

Before Chicago hip-hop became a worldwide movement, WhiteFolks, also known as E.C. Illa, was helping build the city's independent rap scene alongside Wicked Entertainment, the legendary label founded by Sleepy and Sinbad in 1993.

Originally from Chicago's North Side, E.C. Illa became one of Wicked Entertainment's early standout artists. The label released his Live From The Ill project in 1994, followed by the Illa LP in 1995. His video "On Ill" gained national exposure on BET's Rap City, helping introduce Chicago's underground sound to a wider audience.

His music became part of the larger Chicagoland hip-hop story, a history worth remembering for fans throughout East Chicago, Northwest Indiana, and the Windy City.

CHI-RAP.com salutes WhiteFolks, Wicked Entertainment, and the independent artists who helped lay the foundation!
