Chicago’s Own Bo Deal to Be Honored at Global Mixx Game Changers Awards

By CHI-RAP.COM

Chicago hip-hop veteran Bo Deal is getting his flowers. The rapper, filmmaker and writer is among the announced honorees for the 2026 Global Mixx Game Changers Awards, taking place Friday, November 13, at Imani Studio in Chicago. The recognition brings attention to a career that reaches across music, independent film and community service.

For CHI-RAP.COM, this is an opportunity to celebrate an artist whose story continues to grow—and whose work gives Chicago audiences several reasons to pay attention.

From Chicago Rap to Independent Film

Bo Deal built his music career through mixtapes, collaborations and a recognizable presence in Chicago’s rap community. His talent biography traces part of his early exposure to BET’s Freestyle Friday. His recording history includes collaborations with Waka Flocka Flame, Chief Keef, G Herbo, Twista and other established artists.

Listeners can hear those connections across records such as “Lookahere,” featuring Waka Flocka and G Herbo, and “Monster,” featuring Montana of 300, G Count, Twista and Bump J. Those releases connect Bo Deal’s catalog with several distinct voices in Chicago rap.

His creative work also extends to the screen. Tubi’s Bo Deal catalog includes And Just Like Dat, Tyrant: Like Father Like Son, its sequel and the Tyrant series. For fans who first discovered him through music, these projects offer another way to follow his storytelling.

A Commitment Beyond Entertainment

Bo Deal’s community work deserves recognition alongside his creative accomplishments. In a 2023 profile, The TRiiBE documented his involvement with Perfect Vision Empowered, including violence prevention, outreach, charitable activities and efforts to connect people with career resources.

Education is another part of that story. Metropolitan Peace Initiatives celebrated Billy “Bo” Deal’s completion of an undergraduate degree in urban community studies at Northeastern Illinois University. The organization described the achievement as a milestone in his work in community violence intervention.

Together, these chapters show an artist continuing to develop his voice, pursue new opportunities and contribute to the city that shaped him.
