CHI-RAP Throwback: Dreezy's "Wasted" — Our 2016 Archive Revisited
From the CHI-RAP.COM archives | Original post: December 18, 2016
Before today's endless stream of social media music clips, Chicago rap websites helped listeners discover new releases one video at a time. CHI-RAP.COM was part of that movement.
While reviewing our original WordPress-era records, we recovered a publication notification confirming that CHI-RAP featured Dreezy's "Wasted" on December 18, 2016.
Nearly ten years later, the record deserves another listen.

Chicago's Dreezy Was Building Something Different
Dreezy, born Seandrea Sledge, emerged from Chicago with an ability to move between direct, confident rap delivery and melodic R&B. That versatility helped distinguish her during an era when Chicago's drill movement was drawing worldwide attention.
Her 2016 album No Hard Feelings showed the range of her sound. "Wasted" took a more emotional approach, examining a relationship in which attention and affection arrived only when the other person had been drinking.
The song's message remains recognizable: knowing when to stop investing energy in someone who does not respect your time.
Why CHI-RAP Featured It in 2016
Our archived publication notification shows that CHI-RAP shared "Wasted" just three days after the official video appeared on YouTube.
That is an important part of the site's history. CHI-RAP was documenting Chicago artists and releases while they were happening, preserving a timeline of the city's evolving sound.
Then and Now: Dreezy in 2026
Dreezy has continued recording beyond the No Hard Feelings era. In February 2026, she released a video for "Worth My Time," another song that places personal value and relationships at the center of its message.
She also appeared with fellow Chicago rapper VonOff1700 on the June 2026 release "Soul Ties," showing how her voice continues to connect with newer generations of Chicago music.
From "Wasted" to "Worth My Time," there is an interesting continuity in Dreezy's music: confidence, vulnerability and the importance of knowing your own worth.

CHI-RAP.COM is bringing back selected features from its original archives, combining the music we documented years ago with updates on where those artists are today.
