Pivot Gang Returns With "Location" — Chicago's West Side Collective Reunites
CHI-RAP.COM | October 31, 2026
Chicago hip-hop is built on more than solo stars. Some of its most memorable music comes from artists who develop together, challenge one another and build a sound that represents their neighborhood. Pivot Gang is one of those collectives, and the crew is back with a new single titled "Location."
Released October 28, 2026, the song brings together Saba, MFnMelo, Joseph Chilliams and Frsh Waters, alongside producer daedaePIVOT. The production is credited to daedaePIVOT and Nartey.

Chicago Chemistry on Display
The JLean-directed video brings the artists together in a basement for a relaxed game-night setting. Rather than relying on an elaborate concept, the visual emphasizes the personalities and chemistry that make a collective work.
Musically, "Location" pairs an easygoing groove with intricate verses and melodic touches. It is a reminder that Chicago rap has always contained multiple styles, from hard-edged drill to soulful, technically ambitious hip-hop.
Who Is Pivot Gang?
Pivot Gang emerged from Chicago's West Side and helped introduce a generation of independent artists to listeners beyond the city. Saba became one of the collective's most recognized voices, while Joseph Chilliams, MFnMelo and Frsh Waters developed their own approaches to lyricism and storytelling.
The group's 2019 album You Can't Sit With Us established its identity as a collaborative force. "Location" is its first new group single in approximately two years and points toward a second full-length album planned for 2027.
John Walt Day Returns in December
Pivot Gang has also announced John Walt Day for December 19, 2026, at Thalia Hall in Chicago.
The celebration will honor the group's creative history and mark ten years of Saba's Bucket List Project.
For Chicago listeners, the return of Pivot Gang is bigger than another single. It shows the lasting value of artists growing together while continuing to create new work.
CHI-RAP Verdict: Put "Location" on your weekend playlist. Chicago's independent hip-hop tradition is still moving forward.
