Twista Live With a Band: Sold-Out Chicago Show Proves the City Still Supports Its Legends
Chicago is showing up for one of its own.
Twista returns to the stage Monday, September 21 at 7:30 PM at City Winery Chicago—and the show is already SOLD OUT.
But this isn't just another Twista concert. The Chicago rap legend will perform with a live band, giving fans a different way to experience a catalog that stretches across more than three decades of Chicago hip-hop.
Long before Chicago drill became an international movement, Twista helped put the city's distinctive sound on the national map. His rapid-fire delivery made him instantly recognizable, while records such as “Slow Jamz” and “Overnight Celebrity” helped take his music to a much larger audience.
The fact that this intimate hometown performance sold out says something important: Chicago still shows up for its hip-hop legends.

CHI-RAP Take
Chicago hip-hop didn't start with today's generation, and documenting where the music is going also means respecting the artists who helped build the foundation.
Seeing Twista's catalog performed with live musicians gives longtime fans something different while introducing another generation to an artist whose fingerprints remain all over Chicago rap.
Three decades later, Twista is still representing—and Chicago is still showing up.
